Being there for my mum matters
Mum forgets and loses things, sometimes she doesn’t even recognise me.
She regularly forgets to take her medicines and then when she does take them, she forgets she has done and takes more.
I really worry about her.
The Medication Support at Home service has introduced me to an award-winning medication monitoring service, born in the NHS, and developed in local authority adult social, care teams.

Now my mum’s medication is taken care of
She gets daily interactive calls with pharmacy professionals to make sure that she takes her medicines at the right time and at the right dose, providing support, guidance and advice as well as being able to intervene when necessary.
They organise her monthly repeat prescriptions, making sure that the correct medicines are ordered from the GP practice, that prescriptions reach the pharmacy on time and are delivered at least 48 hours before the next month’s medicines are needed.
They also deal with any medication problems and worries that arise during the month, and will even liaise with the GP practice on her behalf.
It takes away the constant worry for me, putting out her medicines in a plastic tray – I was scared of making an error.
That’s all gone now.
Mum is enjoying her new independence and finally I can relax and even take some time away, knowing my mum is in trusted, professional and friendly hands.
